It is believed by a very large portion of the population that age verification is simply a disguise for mass surveillance. Advertised as a way to protect children's online safety by requiring identification submission to prove legal age. While noble if the intent is genuine. But when it's tagged on every single operating system and every device, this creates a massive database that can be (and already has been) compromised by hackers. Used by governments and other actors to keep massive detailed records about all who submit information. While started abroad, this is quickly being picked up here in America. You know, the land of the free? Isn't tyranny the reason we left the old countries and became the land of the free home of the brave? Certainly doesn't feel that way in the last 6-7 years.
Having researched as much as I can about this direction we are being forced into without having our voices heard. I for one, believe the parents are the gate keepers for children. Not governments. If this was only about protecting children, then I'd have no issue. But this feels sinnister.
